“What if a demon were to creep after you one night, in your loneliest loneliness, and say, 'This life which you live must be lived by you once again and innumerable times more; and every pain and joy and thought and sigh must come again to you, all in the same sequence. The eternal hourglass will again and again be turned and you with it, dust of the dust!' Would you throw yourself down and gnash your teeth and curse that demon? Or would you answer, 'Never have I heard anything more divine'?”

It saddens me that not everybody can answer that question with "Never have I heard anything more divine".
hmm.. i don't know that i'd be all that thrilled about living the same life over and over. maybe i'm reading it incorrectly? i, for one, am up for something altogether different.
a beautiful way of looking at whether you're living a fulfilling life.
Of course everyone is going to have their moments that they would loathe to re-live, so to respond "Never have I heard anything more divine" might be a bit intense, but maybe one should strive to at least want to say "Alright, I'm game."
i guess one could look at this prospect in a whole bunch-a-ways. personally, even if it was the best life i'd ever lived, i wouldn't want to do it again. i'd rather live than re-live.. but then again, maybe we're always re-living. hmm.. there's a question. coffee? what do you think? (uhh.. you speak to your coffee, right? sure.. i thought so. phew... ;-)
