Knock Knock

Perhaps it's not the best idea to start out with a political post, but I recently stumbled upon this poem that I wrote in 2003, and thought it was still relevant. I'd love to hear your thoughts on the poem, politics, or whatever you think of.

Knock Knock

Excuse me Mr. President, I know you are busy,
But I have been screaming, didn't you hear me?
I realize you have more important things to do -
People to hate, spirits to chew,
Windows to board-up, secrets to hide,
But while you were sleeping, your daisies all died.
I'm sorry Mr. President, I don't mean to nag,
But twenty six stars just fell off the flag.
The Statue of Liberty - her torch held high,
Crumbled to pieces and fell from the sky.
I know you have too many things in your head,
But on your front porch there's a dove lying dead.
I can see you've been busy with bombing and lying,
But while you were playing, your children were dying.
